Tennessee AG Skrmetti Launches Probe into Attempted Foreclosure of Elvis Presley’s Iconic Graceland Home

Tennessee Attorney General Jonathan Skrmetti announced Thursday that his office is “looking into” a private investment company’s attempt to foreclose on Elvis Presley’s iconic Graceland home in Memphis.

Graceland became the target of Nausanny Investments and Private Lending, LLC after the company claimed that the singer’s daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, who died in 2023, didn’t repay a loan that used the home as collateral.

Lisa Marie Presley’s daughter, Danielle Riley Keough, who was granted virtual control of Graceland when her mother passed away, challenged the investment company’s claims, arguing that her mother never took the loan and claiming that the documents that stated Lisa Marie Presley allegedly took out the loan are “fraudulent.”

An auction for the iconic home was planned for this week; however, Shelby County Chancellor JoeDae Jenkins issued a temporary injunction on Wednesday, blocking the auction.

Skrmetti said his office has consistently fought fraud over the years and is committed to thoroughly determining the “full extent of any misconduct that may have occurred” regarding Graceland.

“Graceland is one of the most iconic landmarks in the State of Tennessee, and the Presley family have generously shared it with the world since Elvis’s passing,” Skrmetti said in a statement. “Elvis made Memphis the center of the music universe, and Graceland stands as a monument to his legacy and a fond remembrance for his family.”

“My office has fought fraud against homeowners for decades, and there is no home in Tennessee more beloved than Graceland. I have asked my lawyers to look into this matter, determine the full extent of any misconduct that may have occurred, and identify what we can do to protect both Elvis Presley’s heirs and anyone else who may be similarly threatened,” Skrmetti added.

Since its opening to the public on June 7, 1982, Graceland has become the second-most visited home in America, as nearly 1  million visitors annually visit the site. Only the White House attracts more tourists to a home.
